I've seen my ducks chase dogs before, including Ally running after and wrapping her neck around one of my parent's dachshunds when they visited in October. I've seen them duck down and run after Jet and Tavarish.
But today... I'm out with the dogs and not worried about Jet and Tavarish, but Abby, the new dane is out with us. I'm now letting her out with the ducks not penned up and just keeping a very close eye on her and staying near the ducks. I am also armed with a squirt bottle. She's starting to get the idea that she should just ignore the ducks.
But she and Tavarish were playing and then she had enough and walked over to me, said hi and then noticed the ducks about 20' away and started to walk over to them. Not stalking, not shaking, just walking over to see what they might be up to. So I let her. She gets to about 5' from the duck and Blue pops her head up from rooting around in dirt, lets out a really loud quack, ducks her head down and takes off after Abby.
I have a 3.5 pound duck chasing a 14 month old great dane! I was laughing my ass off. No help needed from me, Blue had it covered!
