You know of packrats & savers(another name for packrats).
I just discovered that I hoard hens/pullets. I would hoard chooks in general but too many roo's is just to distressing for the flock so I have been able to either rehome them or "table" them. My DH keeps asking me why I don't sell or give away a few pullets or older hens but I can't seem to let them go. Even if they are no longer laying. A nice man came today to buy my #2 roo, Thomas, as him and his wife have just bought 60 acres and want to start a flock. Thomas is his first roo and his first chook. He asked if I had any pullets for sale and I said, No.

Maybe, if I had more time to think about it I would have figured out who I could sell him. I just can't let go of my girls! This is not good.

I may have to give one of my girls away just to break this hold.

I will have to convince myself "there are always more chooks, there are always more chooks, yep, there are always more chooks."

Chickens will reproduce and keep your flock growing. So when there's a hen that no longer puts eggs on the table that means soup.

I recently had to sell off some of my hens. We were just getting too many eggs. It wasn't easy but, I had to make room for the chicks I am hatching. 'Tis true, there are always more chickens!
