Sorry this is a repost. I tried in the duck section first, but there's much more action on this thread.

Today is day 30 and I panicked and after much reading here I decided to see if I could help with the hatch. Of the 12 duck eggs that I set, only one was fertile so I'm really hoping for this little one! When I candled, the egg was too full and too dark to see anything. I didn't think that there was movement. When I peeled back some egg, I could see that the baby was alive and there are still tiny veins in the membrane. What have I done now? I've moistened the membrane abd put the egg back in the incubator but will the baby be ok with a hole in its shell? Is there anything else that I should do?

Well you learn from your mistakes. As long as you didn't pierced the membrane it is going to be fine.Just wrap it up with something warm.
