I have some bad news...One of our chickens died, my dad just told me on the phone. I don't know which one it is, or how they died, since he didn't have time to tell me.

I hope it's not my poor little Red Star hen, Cinnamon!

So now I have to wait until he calls me back to hear the news about which one it is...

Just thought I would post this because I'm really worried. I love all of our chickens, and no matter which one it is, it's going to be really sad, but if it's my little Cinnamon, I'm going to be devastated!

I raised her as a chick and she has always been my favorite...I've had her for about 3-4 years now, and that's not too long, but I just hope that she's OK. What if the weasel has come back?

The last time that happened, a weasel got three of our chickens; my hen, Apricot, and a rooster and another hen.

Thanks for reading...I'm calling my dad now...I will update you later.

Oh NO! Im so sorry!!! I hate to lose any of my animals. They all are like family. I get attached to them too easy. I always have.I hope that it was NOT cinnamon!

Best wishes and God Bless!

UPDATE: Just got done talking to my dad, it turns out it was one of our Buff Orpington hens. He doesn't know which is which, so it's either Setherina, my little sister's hen, or Caramel, my other little sister's hen.

He said that he found her in the nest box, just sitting in there like she was laying an egg. I don't know if she froze to death, which is unlikely because all the other chickens are fine and it wasn't as cold as it has been at night and they have a light, or if she died from trying to pass an egg and became egg bound (has never happened before...she never showed any signs of becoming egg bound...) or some other internal reason. He said she had no injuries like she had been attacked, and she wasn't picked to death. The two Buff Orpington hens are both the leaders of the flock, so I doubt she was pecked to death by the others and she showed no signs of it.

At least we know that it wasn't a weasel...Now I just hope she didn't die from some contagious disease.

And thanks bigstack.

Thanks. We think it's my little sister's hen, Setherina.

My dad told me not to tell her because she doesn't need to know right now. We will tell her the next time we see the chickens at my dad's house.
