How old is he/she? Looks like a pullet to me. Dark coloring, not silvery like a cockerel. Do the front of the legs have a dark wash of color down the front? If so, probably you have a pullet.

Edited to say: I didn't know that Barred Rock girls and boys have different coloring....hmmmmm. Well, you learn something new every day!!

BR roos are usually lighter than the pullets because they carry the double barred gene and pullets don't
