I get to place an order for chicks today hubby said!

Now;

I have this place a few hrs from me: (like 5)

and I'd really like an interesting to look at breed for a few of them..just to throw color in lol..
DH wants rhode island reds for some...but since we are getting 20 of them..I was thinking 10 of those..
and 10 of what I want..

I like the way the barred standard plymouth looks...

but I want egg layers and good ones!

I ordered Australorps - from everything I've read they are very good egg layers. Not sure what type of weather you have but they seem to be pretty hardy in cold or hot weather. Mine will be here in a few weeks so we'll hope and see!

I ordered them from meyer hatchery. minimum order for chicks is 3.

I ordered from MyPetChicken. The shipping is expensive, but I LOVED being able to pick out 1 pullet from a variety of breeds. 1st order consisted of:

2 Easter Eggers
Welsummer
and a Silver Cuckoo Maran

Depending upon where you live, they will send as few as 3 chicks. My minimum was 5.
