Ohhhh... I need help or I AM GOING TO CRY!!!!!!

Ok, I was checking my chicks for pasting up. I thought that one of our favotie baby chick's umbilical cord was poop and I pulled it right off... oh man! As you can tell I am so new at this and I am really scared that that poor baby is going to die. I really was crying when I realized it was her umbilical cord becuase i heard it could seriously hurt or kill them if you pull it off... will my chick die?????

Is it bleeding? If so, stop the blood using compression or clot it with flour.

If not, and nothing is hanging out of its belly, it is probably fine fine.

Does the chick appear to be hurt? If not then I wouldn't worry. If it did internal damage you would know pretty much immediately I would think.

Take and dilute some betadine about 75% with water, sterile if you have it and treat the area. That is what we do with cattle and horses.
