Oily coat on eggs

I'm sorry. I wasn't sure where to post this.
I went into my coop to collect eggs this evening. As I was picking them up, they felt like maybe one of the eggs had gotten busted and the yolk had leaked on them. Its dark so I couldn't tell. I brought them in the house and got a dry rag and wiped all of them off. None were broken so I have no idea what this substance is. The eggs are oily feeling. Any ideas?

One of the best tools I've ever had and a must for chickeneering IMO.

I'm betting there was a broken egg, inspect the nest carefully.
They often eat the whole shell and most the contents and the only thing left is a wet spot and messy eggs. You'll want to clean out the nest and put fresh bedding in it or it will stink in a few days.
