I read somewhere that you can give goats Gas-X i think it was on a must haves list for goats. i would look that up a little and maybe you can try it. i am fairly new to goats so i hope someone more knowledgable helps! maybe change the title to "HELP: Bloated baby Goat!!!" or something

They make this stuff for cattle I use for that.....one of my calfs cannot have alfalfa at all or he bloats. I hope this changes someday.....let me see it is like gas-x. I went and found it I always have it on hand....it is called (Therabloat) Drench concentrate for treatment of legume alfalfa clover bloat in cattle. It says on the back under dosages animals up to 500 lbs give 1 full ounce and animals over 500 lbs give 2 ounces you mix it with water. If you tube it to them use 1 gallon water or I use a 60 gauge none needle syringe with one pint of water which this is the other option and proper amount of therabloat mixed in the water. I get it at my local feed store probably could get it on line or from a vet too. It is like ten bucks and is a 2 ounce concentrated bottle.

Good luck!

I got a call back from my vets office..it was one of the vets that work with him in his office..she DIDN"T have any interest in helping me...anyways..he did "pass" a lil gas, but he's still SOOO bloated..My vet will be in at 8am..if he's no better in the morning I'll be making a trip to his office.

You need to get some baking soda into that baby. Make little balls and just shove them as far back as you can into his mouth. Remove all feed, leave water.

Bloat isn't colic! Stop walking him, that will make him miserable. Like someone else said, get some baking soda in him. I also like to give mineral oil (if he's a pygmy, I'd give 1/4 cup- if he's a regular kid give him 1/2 cup). You can also try to give some dish soap (breaks down foam).

If all else fails and that doesn't work, use an 18 guage needle and poke a small hole in the rumen (left side of the goat up high where the bloated part is). Leave the needle IN and that will let some air out and let some pressure off until you can solve the problem.
