OK........found a hen I thought I had lost

A few weeks ago I thought I had lost a lemon blue OE hen to a hawk or something.....While I was out of town my wife calls and tells me she found the hen. Come to find out she had been sitting on eggs! She is now in a pen with her 8 brand new chicks! I am glad to know she was not dinner for some hawk or coon!

I'm glad she was found! I have a little mixed cochin bantam that did the exact same thing. I thought a raccoon had gotten her, and then one day she comes be-bopping out from under my house about feeding time with 8 chicks in tow! Later my daughter found a bucket under the edge of the house with a dozen unhatched eggs. She's black, but had I bothered to look close enough, I would've seen her.

What a relief! My Fat Red Hen did that too. I found her under the deck behind a drain tube. Silly girl goes under the deck where I can't reach her. I just put up some chicken wire and let her go about her hatching.
