this is what we started with as an idea for a small henhouse and we progressed as we talked it out

here is a side view before we put the last wire siding on

and a small run area for now

we are building* construction phase* a detachable/attachable bigger run that will have a seperate run for roo and hen

this is a pic of the inside thru the wire of the roosting posts

it is totally wired in the run area and zip tied for extra reinforcement as well as screwed and stapled
we arent carpenters but this is a first project and not all bad in my opinion eh?

Ive gotta get the bedding/nesting material and then of course the babies
they will be covered in winter to allow air but not freeze with a hurricane panel type cover and eventually we will have a chicken house and this will become the baby area

sooooooooooooo whatcha think

Looks great! Suggestion.....Extend the run underneath the coop. It will extend the scratching area, and give the chickens some covered outdoor space.

the run we have there now will be sufficient till the babies get bigger and by then we will have a run built to attach to this tractor

it will be framed and a slide bolt( several) will hold it into place

when we get it done I will post more pics altho it will likely be a month or so down the line

the pic makes it look smaller than it is
the run area inside is just shy of 3 foot by just shy of 4 foot

I wanted something portable

this is also wired to prevent critters from botherin the flock
plus it now matches the bottom of the back deck and hey its plastic lattice so no rot there right

I will post more pics when I get home from work tonight of it done at this stage

I agree totally with Coffeelady. That extra square ft or so would make a great deal of difference and it would be easy to do.

Great idea! We built one on a cart cause I was thiking we'd be getting into making axles and everything but, again, we were designing coop overkill!! and it didn't have to be that difficult. Good Job.
