Ok, here's my story in a nutshell...

You'll have to wait until your chicks are older than 4-5 weeks before putting them in the pen with adult birds. They are still babies until they are fully feathered and will have no protection from large birds. Even then I'd partition off some of the pen to create a safe place. Good luck on your new project. Charles, it sounds like you have a good plan going there. You might want to rig up something to divide off a portion of the coop for the young chickens. Maybe a poultry wire divider so that the new chickens can be in with the older hens but still be "separate"....this might give the older hens a chance to get accustomed to the new ones without being able to give them a hard time. Leave the new chicks in their "cell" for several days for their safety *and* for them to imprint on their new home.
