Well here goes. We have 6 chicks (3 BO's and 3 BA's) that are due to arrive mid May. Around the 19th for a ship date. I have the brooder set up, and our dogs old large crate ready for when they are in their "teens" before out to the coop. I have now found myself about to adopt 2 BR pullets that are just about two weeks old MONDAY!

The thing is that they will end up being about 4-5 weeks older than my original six. SOOOOO, how do I go about doing this? When can I introduce them? I was thinking of waiting till they are all about the same size? How do you make introductions go as smoothly as possible? New to chicks this year and I want to make it as easy on them as possible. Good thing our coop ended up being bigger than planned!

That close in age and with six chicks in the younger batch and only two in the older one I'd put them together when the youngsters are around 4-6 weeks old. They'll be mostly feathered in by then and not so fragile. As long as they have plenty of room it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Thanks for the help. The dog kennel is BIG and has a divider and I thought that may work for intro's before heading out to the coop, and yard. They should all be close to the same size by then I hope. Also the breeds I am getting are all on the more mellow side I hear so I hope that works out in our favor as well.
