I got a bargain on these little fuzzies! last week they I noticed they hot lots of buff colored silkies in the bantams bin and was so excited, but we were planning a beach trip for the weekend and knew I had to wait until after that. so today we go up there with the intention of getting chicks!! they that 5 buff colored silkies in the bin of tetra tints pullets. I asked the mananger (who has been waiting on me to get some chicks for this season) and he said someone bought them and brought them back...wonder why though?? so I told him I wanted to get some chicks but with them being straight run bantams I wasn't sure. I also informed him that one of the silkies had some major pasty butt issues that needed to be addresses immediately. then he told me that they would get it out and start pulling it off!! aaaacckkkkk no don't do that it could really hurt him!! I told him you need soap water and patience. so then he came back and said he would give me a deal on all 5 silkies if I took them today.....25 cents each!! so duh I couldn't pass that up. and also I took the opportunity to show them the characteristics of silkies and how they are good family birds!! made me feel good to show them something about them. anyways, I thought at first that they were all buffs but then I am starting to think that only one is buff and the others are something else. help is appreciated!!

this one I believe is completely buff, it has no other markings like the others

just wanted to add, pasty butt is remedied and they are doing great in their new brooder!

I have 3 silkie babies but they have a poof on top of their head, are you sure these arent cochins?, mine looked like that as a baby

their little poofs are smaller than I have seen, but I chock that up to hatchery stock. I have learned not to expect the best quality coloring or markings from them. but that is ok, they are for looks and cuteness...and they sure have that!!

this pic shows their poofs a little better. no matter how hard I try though I couldn't get the pic to rotate.

so buff silkies have the darker marking on their wing feathers and back?

eta: looked on feathersite to see what kind of pics they might have, and I am still stumped. who knows?! but they are so cute...and keeping my fingers crossed that they aren't all boys. will be watching them closely

ok after looking over bookoos of pictures of buff silkies and other color varieties, I am beginning to think maybe the ones with the darker backs and markings on the wings are Red silkies!! could it be?! guess we will see!
