You come in the house from putting vaseline on the roosters combs & wattles & see blood all over your hand and the first thing you think is, "OMG! One of the chickens is bleeding!!!" and freak out & then when you figure out its from you, youre relieved.

Ya I cut my finger on a piece of sheet metal (I remember now) & have bled through two bandades already, but its alright because the chickens are ok!!

Oh and immediately after my 5 second freak out, my next thought was...."I have to tell everyone on BYC!" YEP!! TRUE STORY!!

ugh..be VERY careful of sheet metal cuts! My hubby almost lost his finger from infection from it...
the doc told him that sheet metal cuts are very prone to infection..
not sure why..

are you serious?? great, now i am worried about me. lol im waiting on the bleeding to stop so i can go wash it. at least i know its flushing itself out right now lol

yup..he had a red line going up his wrist with in a few days of the cut.. and it swelled up huge.
he had to have I.v. anti biotics every day at the hosp and everything..
and thats when the doc told us that from his experience they are the real nasty ones..infection wise.
just keep it very clean..

ANtibiotics and tetanus shot!

My grandpa had all kinds of what grandma referred to as "old junk" around the shop. Every time I got a cut or scratch (and the time my foot got impaled on a 'safety pin type' fish stringer!) it was another tetanus shot!

Seriously, I took an animal health class years ago and metal lying around has all kinds of viruses and bacteria on it. Go to the dr.
