We have a 14 year old rescue hen that has started laying about 1 or 2 eggs a week. ( she must be happy!) she ate the first few, as she probably has had to over the years for nutritional reasons but has stopped now and leaving them alone. Is there any reason why we shouldn't eat the eggs? She is very healthy otherwise. We never expected her to lay so it's a real bonus :) apparently she isn't ready for retirement yet!

nope, they should be fine to eat as long as you haven't wormed her in the last week. strange things happen, maybe she is laying and wants to go broody again. seems a bit rare as ive never heard of it but good for her! just make sure she has enough calcium, grit and protein in her diet

I ate the egg for dinner tonight, it was delicious
