Does anyone know how old chooks get as we have 2 left and they must be at least 10 years old as they came with the house when we bought it in 2007 and they were 2 years old then. We aren't going to get any more chickens until they depart as they are to bossy.

Some breeds that aren't as hardy or bred for longevity only make it to 5 years of age, but one of the longest living chicken made it nearly to 16 years of age!

Sounds like you've got some healthy chickens!

What kind are they?

I've had a few Australorps and Orpingtons over the past 50 years live to be 10-12 years old. The oldest current living chicken whose name is Matilda is 16 years old, and the oldest chicken ever recorded was 22 years old when it died.

17 year old Black Rpck hen squeezes out 2 eggs after 11 years of not laying.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of this one. Thanks for the update. What's especially interesting about this one is that Black Rock is one of the labels under which Black Sex Links are marketed in the UK. You read lots of BYC members claiming that sex links don't live long and that their egg laying burns out after 2-3 years (although I've personally gotten 5-6 years of decent laying from a few of my Black Sex Links). It just goes to show how generalizations are made that are not always true.)

That's good to know, I hope my Golden Comets live for many years.
