Hi. I have a coop that has been vacant for about 3 years. And we just hatched a new batch of babies to put in there. They are a month old and I would LOVE to move them out of the garage ASAP. Is there anything I need to do to clean the coop out from our previous flock? It still has all the hay and wood chips in it from three years ago. So, I would get all that out. But what else should I do?

A good cleaning certainly would not hurt. I am in the process of building a new coop but it is made from recycled/reclaimed materials. I have sprayed everything down with white vinegar to clean it. I bought a sprayer bottle from the hardware store for about $12 (the kind that you pump and has a wand nozzle) and filled it with the vinegar. I sprayed everything and let it dry. Letting it soak in can also prevent mold growth.
