Hello everyone,

Ive got 5 Old English Game bantams and the harsh Ontario winter is well on its way. I'm just curious to know if I actually need to lock them up for the winter, or can they just use a little shed for wind/snow protection, and so they can just walk around the yard.

Thanks in advance!

Most of my birds are free to choose whether to go out or stay in. For my bantams I open the pop door on days it isn't snowing or too windy and they choose. If it's bad weather they stay in, so it's important to have a big enough coop so your birds could technically stay inside all winter, especially with bantam. I also shovel the run and put down hay. Mine will not walk on snow. I don't currently have any game, but have had them in the past. They are feisty little birds.
