Old Fashioned Wet Bulb How to Help

SO I have a Leahy Incubator with the old Taylor wet/dry thermometers on it. I need help figuring out the proper way to set up the wet bulb. It has a glass reservoir with a hole in the bottom. I know that there is supposed to be a wick running from the wet thermometer to the reservoir but I am not sure exactly how this is done. I assume you stick the wick in the hole at the bottom but wont all the water just run out? Am I missing something here?
