Old green house as coop white granules inside

Hey everyone. I am utilizing an old old greenhouse on my property as a chicken coop. It has some white granules in it. They are really dry and probably not active any longer....can i put my chickens in there or do i have to DIG all the dirt out??!! Cant post a photo won't let me.

I'm guessing it is perlite. I would clean that up before putting chickens in there or they will definitely eat it.
It may not kill them but wouldn't be good. Other than just plain perlite, it probably has traces of fertilizer and even insecticides on it.

Old white granules all need to be gone, whatever they are. The previous owner may know, or have forgotten. Remove them!
