I have a barred Plymouth Rock hen named Tiny. She is over 9years old. She has issues with pasty butt and I fear her digestion has gotten worse :(. I looked online its says she has speciman which is problems with her kidneys. What can I do to help please help me.

Maybe she has a fungal infection (vent gleet) or sour/impacted crop which can also be from a fungal infection. Many people have found success from the pasty vent by cutting the feathers around the vent, cleaning it up, and putting monistat or a sulfur-based cream called Nustock on the vent every day or two. Here is a link on crop issues: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/04/answers-from-chicken-vet-on-impacted.html

You could try adding probiotics to her water to help with digestion. 70% of the immune system lies in the GI tract and by pumping up the tract with probiotics, you will be boosting the immune system as well. Probiotics also help with diarrhea, which might help with the pasty butt. You might also add apple cider vinegar to her water, possibly alternating the probiotics and ACV every other day. ACV helps to turn the body alkaline, and ACV is known to help with kidney and urinary tract infections. ACV is mixed 2 or 3 tablespoons per 1 gallon of water changed and made fresh daily. I use these probiotics in my chickens water all the time....

Okay tiny is keeps trying to use the restroom but nothing is coming out. She doesn't want to to eat

If you have some disposable rubber gloves you can lubricate (with vaseline, KY jelly, or even soap and water) a finger and insert it into the vent to exam for anything stuck in there--egg or poo. Just the stimulation as well as the lubrication may make her go.

I don't know of I can do that.. I'll try. Thanks that sounds like it can work. It can't be an egg because she hasn't lad an egg for a couple years so it has to be poop.

Tiny is pooping liquid yellow and jut a little bit. She makes this Struggling sound as she poops. Looks like she is in pain. Good thing she is still eating and drinking water. Idk what else to do. She has pasty butt now with all the liquid poop. But I am cleaning it

What kind of feed is she on? Did you try the vinegar in the water or the yogurt? What was the problem you were talking about with her kidneys again? Does she get outside to eat some grass or greens?

Tiny is indoor and outdoor chicken. I started giving her super pro biotic. Which looks like it can help. I didn't know chickens can have yogurt???she eats Lettuce ,tomato ,seeds and anything she finds outside
