Hello from Texas:
I've had chickens on and off in different areas where we lived. Northern Arkansas, Southeast Texas, Central Texas and now back to the Piney Woods.
Right now I have 5 Americana hens I ordered from Tractor Supply that are 10 weeks old, I have a mix of Rhode Island Red hens (2) and one Americana and a Rhode Island Red Roo I bought from a young man who raises chickens. Well one of the Rhode Island Reds went broody and I let her have 4 eggs. All 4 hatched the day Hurricane Harvey ravaged us. Two didn't make it. The other two are strong and healthy and living safely with mom. I bought an incubator to see if I could hatch eggs on my own. I'm on day 17 - Update to follow.
Just call me the old chicken lady LOL !
