Greetings! I'm putzing around the internet looking at all things chicken and every time I google something I get sent here anyway so I figured I better get with the program and quit lurking.
I have a hodge podge of laying hens ranging in age from one to six and chicks in the brooder. I'm also having "rooster issues" this spring for the first time that have turned my nice little back yard to a series of jail cells 'till the raging hormone problems go away or get bad enough for the thought of eating a three year old roo to sound good.
The birds I really want are white orpingtons because well, nevermind, no logical reason, I just want them.

Get ready to learn the way your doing things is all wrong, but dont worry, if its working for you, keep doing it. The way my parents and grandparents raised thiers would never work(although they had chickens for many years).

Edited to fix spelling

But a lot of truth to this, too. I think we can learn plenty from the old timers. Hopefully it will work both ways!
