Just wondering if anyone can help troubleshoot my older cabinet GQF incubator. it is a 1255 I believe?

It has two wafers, a main and a backup.

I lost power a week ago and a couple days later noticed the incubator had shot up to 121F (not sure if a power surge could have fried something?)

I can't get the temp down, it is sticking between 119-121F. I lost a lot of eggs and I really need to get this incubator going again.

Is this likely a problem with the wafer?? I've replaced a wafer before but the issue was that the temp was way too low. I just wanted to make sure before ordering as money is tight this month.

Usually 90% Of the time its the wafer the other 10% its the thermostat itself.
It has two so if the first one fails then the second one catches it. The second should be set up a tad higher then the first.
It would be really rare for them both to go out at once. Maybe the back up was already bad.
Did you test them both before? Have you tried to adjust it using just the backup?

Thanks for your reply!!

I tried it with both wafers, doesn't matter which i try to adjust, can't get the temp down, the red light is always on. I think it is likely that the backup one (or the main one) wasn't working and now the other wafer went too. But I am worried it is the thermostat. I can't just buy both at the moment due to being poor as dirt. I suppose I will try with the wafer, I have never had a problem with the wafers making the incubator too HIGH it was always too LOW.

Of course this happens when I have a new project I was very excited for. Now I have eggs sitting around doing nothing, not to mention the 80++ eggs I just had to chuck out. :(

Hey- Does anyone know how exactly this incubator is getting up to 121F? I have read that the thermostat in these things should only get up to 115!!!

So now I am wondering how it is even going that high!?
