I hope someone can help me out. I have hen that survived our winter here but will not roost in the pen at night. She roosts at the neighbors. Now I have 11 new chickens (19 weeks old) and when I let them out in the evening for some free range time some of them have started following "Mrs. Chicken" at night. My solution is to keep them locked up in their pen for two weeks until they are all accustomed to roosting in the pen. I am on day 8 (they are not very happy with me) and I do hope it works. Any other suggestions?

If you can, retrieve her every time she roosts at the neighbors & put her on the perch where she should be (She'll stay there if it's already past dark). Then she'll wake up in your coop. With a few repetitions of that, she should get to associate your coop with "This is where my sleeping time is spent" & become more inclined to put herself to bed there.
Best wishes!
