Olive Egger pullet…or not?

My son picked out this little one from the local feed store 3 weeks ago, and it was already about 5 days old. They said that it is an olive egger pullet, but the past few days this bright red comb has popped up. In the picture it doesn’t look as red. Also, they didn’t seem to know beans about chickens, I think they just went through the catalogue picking out the most expensive.

Could it be a cockerel, instead? My son would like to know if his Olive is really Oliver.

It's a cockerel but I wondering what you mean about the catalog thing. Every hatchery has a 90% sexing Accuracy, a few cockerels slip by.

Does it look like an Olive egger? That’s what I am wondering about the catalogue. They seemed to be guessing about the breeds they had. I have never encountered one before, and all of the pictures I have found online are brown chicks, and these were black. This one looks more like our barred rock chickens.

Ah, ok. If you know which hatchery, it will narrow it down, most tractor supplys use Hoovers, and that hatchery is known for bad paperwork sent with chicks. Olive eggers ate mixes so they can pretty much look like anything.

One of my olive Eggers looks like that her name is strawberry it's not the best year. But everytime she melts it's a little different this year it's more white but this pic is from last year

I've hatched a couple batches of mixed birds for olive and other colour eggs. I had two that looked just like this one. Both were boys and this one appears to be a boy too.
Thank you. My son is saying I need to get him an Olive to go with his Oliver. 😂
