Hi folks
I need you're guys help again.
When you already have olive egger, and you want more, what do you do:
Make more using for example ameraucana and marans? Or can you put a olive egger rooster with the olive egger hens? Which methode is the best ?

ameraucana and marans?

A true Ameraucana will be pure for the blue egg gene. That means both genes at that gene pair will be the blue egg gene. Since the blue egg gene is dominant, all their pullets will lay blue or green eggs.

Not all Marans lay really deep brown chocolate eggs, some can be a lighter than deep chocolate. There can be some inconsistencies in what shade of green you get with that cross but if you are happy with the shade you get this cross should be the most consistent of any.

An olive egger does not have to have Marans and Ameraucana parents. Just because it is an olive egger doesn't mean you know much about what genetics it really has. I think you are talking about your Marans/Ameraucana cross. In that case you would get about 3/4 green egg and 1/4 brown egg layers. The shades of brown and green can and probably will vary quite a bit, some darker than others.

You will always get blue or green egg layers. The shade of green will vary a lot, and tend to not be that dark.

About half the pullets will lay brown eggs, half green. Should be pretty dark brown or green.
