Any advice appreciated. My hen was attacked by a 'possum which led to some serious subcutaneous wounds and a severe head tilt.
When I was able to get her 3 days post... she was malnourished and lice infested after being quarantined but not nursed.
I have since begun hand feeding liquids only, addressed the parasite issue (sevin dust) cleaned and dressed the wounds(chlorhexadine and sfz ointment) including penicillin injections, sub q fluids... Not sure what to feed.
yogurt, vitamins, electrolytes and some Science diet A/D (critical care)
Her wounds are healing but I don't see much info online about trauma or tempanic membrane recovery... Any suggestions are appreciated

I would use some moistened chicken feed, mixed with a little scrambled egg, yogurt, and some of the canned cat/dog food occasionally would be fine. If tube feeding is required, baby bird feed is highly recommended. Some also grind up chicken crumbles finely and mix with a lot of water. For wry neck (torticolis,) it might be helpful to give more vitamin E up to 400 IU daily. The other vitamins you are using would be fine to continue. So glad that you are giving her a chance to live. For lice or mites, I use permethrin dust or spray. Sevin is no longer approved for poultry, and I have seen resistance to lice with it before.
