OMG Cockroaches

Well, I'm not catching any so either I'm not doing it right or I've got them under control.
I did put out a heavy sprinkling of DE a few weeks back and that could be impacting things.

I've had REALLY good luck in the past with those Roach Motels that you buy. They are nothing more than cardboard boxes w/ really sticky stuff inside and some sort of attractant. I have them in my garage and I get one in there every now and then. Maybe one a month or so.

So I know they exist out in the environment. But few are getting in.

But I like the idea of making your own traps so I'll keep the jars out and refresh with a new banana peel every week or so throughout the summer.

I have also heard beer in the bottom of the jar instead of the banana peel, or some sweet soda pop as well. I didn't do mine yet. I haven't gotten any on the last few days from my glue traps and I also put out a tray of powdered sugar mixed with baking soda which they supposedly eat then die. I haven't seen any dead ones laying around.

GOT ONE!!!

Just one. I have a big glass jar and wrapped the outside w/ tape thinking it was too slippery for them to crawl up on the glass. Inside is a sprinkling of chicken feed and banana peel and there was one roach in there this morning. Which my alpha hen was very happy to gobble up.

I wondered about that and asked the question earlier if they could crawl up the sides of a glass jar. I have a bunch of one gallon jars but they are pretty tall and I can't picture one scaling the glass to get inside.
