never did i expect this, we candled tonight and saw movement!! 2 others def have chicks in them. 2 others maybe. i am so scared i am going to mess this up. mom silkie (year and half old) is sitting on them nicely and is top hen in the coop. but i have 4 roos and 2 other females all about 6 month old silkies, in there too. what do i do...? do i separate her (and chicks) once they are hatched? do i leave them all together? what do i need to take care of them? what do i need to do?????
i never thought they would be fertile and that it was a futile effort.
now i dont know what to do??????//
this is how i feel.....

I think mom and chicks need their own little place.
Probably need to be moved before hatch so there's no chance of any nosy/curious flockmates hurting the new chicks.
This is just my opinion, so hopefully someone more knowledgable will chip in here.

Yes, just move her gently to a private area, especially as it is your first hatch and that of your hen's! Silkies are professional mums too so you wont need to do much intervention.
though I had 5 nursery pens set up in my coop with their own wooden box and little run attached.
It worked for a week or so, then they all wanted to forage in the dirt and grass at the same time so I let them out all together and they got on really well, then they ended up in one box to sleep at night .
3 mums and their chicks, so sweet.
Just be ready with a little saucer with cooked egg yolk and a shallow water dish.
Put these dishes close to mum so she can feed them really easily without having to get off nest.
They wont need food for ist 24 hours though.
Good luck and keep us posted.
I love my silkies too!!
