OMG!!! Do chickens "blow" their feathers?

Quote:
Oh Ridge! I'm not sure I can handle homework this morning! I'd flunk out of Chickens 101.
Most of the girls are growing them back fast and I have one hen that is continuing to lay despite the fact that she's naked. My rooster molted, lost everything and had everything back in about a week. Of course, he's not having to put anything into production of eggs.
Thanks for the link. I'll read it as soon as I can get my mind and my body on the same page today.
So, from reading that link I'd say I have about 1/2 early molters and 1/2 late molters in my flock. Doesn't matter much, since there will be no talk of getting rid of them.

Mrs. Speckledhen, the queen of the BYC flock has made a royal proclamation that molting hens are not allowed to be photographed.
I just brought Jezzie in a few minutes ago to show my DH. As far as I know there is no proclamation against that

Took her back outside, set her down, she shook off and POOF! There went the rest of the feathers.

The inside of the my coop looks like a feather pillow exploded. It is molting time here.
