OMG Ewww...

My turkey had laid 10 eggs and started sitting. One was cracked, she chunked it. One was rotten, she chunked it. Slowly they started disappearing. She is now down to 4 and way past 28 days. My inlaws and I decided we would open 1 tonight if they hadnt hatched and check it out. I am inpatient. I took 2 from her and candled. Dark, cant see a thing. So I take it into the kitchen and strt to tap it open at the bubble. Keep in mind I am new to all this hatching stuff. I tap it on top and get a small hole. PSSSSSSSssssssss...oh look! TAP! POP! STENCH!

It was rotten. It exploded on me and now my house reeks worse than poop! Really. If my dog pooped beside me now I would be gratefull!

It spread too. Its not just the kitchen either. Now I know what people are talking about when they say they had an egg explode in their bator.

I am sorry, that is not funny ... but the way you worded it is hilarious! I have a dog that could help you out. She cannot come into the house because the first thing she ALWAYS does is poop ... even if she just went outside

Im laughing! It's funny because I am serious! The smell is, I dont even know if wretched covers it. Im about to start burning all the candles I can find. Heres hoping Sadie is a bad dog lol

Oh Eeeew! Open all the windows and try some air freshener like Oust or Nutra air or something similar. It works pretty well at my house for nasty smells lol.We used it when we were potty training our puppy. She would poop in the house and it would be just awful.

At least she always went in the bathroom right next to the toilet

Im sure the egg smell is much worse but maybe it would help a little.

On a scale of 1-10 where rotten egg is 10, my dogs worst poop is a 3. Thats how bad this is.

Well, I learned one thing from reading this---if there's the slightest doubt about an egg, take it OUTSIDE to check!!

BTW, Zero Pet Odor works well on obnoxious odors.

I also heard if your going to crack it opened... put it in a plastic bag and seal it first...

It sounds like it's up there with a skunk smell....

Now the bag idea is a good idea. I didnt think about that. But then again I didnt think about it exploding on me either.

Note to self...

Skunk is pretty bad too. Had a dog come home one time and introduce me to that. I would say still that this was worse. But at least I can bleach the sink. I couldnt bleach the dog.

I had a stench coming form my bator one morning so opened it to find the culprit. Wasn't hard to find either. So I took it out very carefully and sat it on the small table the bator is on so I could add water and close the bator. I jarred the table and it fell off right into our shoe tub. We have one of those plastic storage tubs that holds our shoes. Of course it broke. I tossed several pairs after I cleaned up the mess trying to hold my nose. Good thing it was right across from the bathroom.

I know what you mean about the smell. It is awful. When I check unhatched eggs, I alwys hold them over something that I dn't mind throwing away and that won't leak.. When i'm done they go straight outside in the garbage can. WE have 3 of those big roller type cans and one stays far away form the house. It is the one that holds all the stinky stuff..
