One time me and my cousin were at my uncles he had a big chicken not a chick but my cousin picked one of his big ones up and accidently dropped it and it broke its leg she put some pressure on it but it was broken it eventualy healed but it seems to be that she still limps and has a bump on her leg where it broke. I hope your chick is ok and gets better!!! Good Luck

Chicks heal very quickly. You can splint it. Use a qtip or tongue depressor, and athletic tape or masking tape. (Or steal some of your husbands tape.) every few days change it. If its really broke, it will help heal straight and give her support. If its sprained, same.

Any idea how to tell where it's broke? Should I just do the whole leg? Think I need to breath so I can think.. I can't seem to figure it out! She doesn't flinch or anything when I touch the whole leg! UGH I hope I didn't like pop her hip out or something! It happened so fast! She is usually soo shy and won't come close to me unless I pick her up.. then she just sits on me so I never dreamed of HER getting under my feet!

You need to breath :) remember Lamaze? Yea, like that. Then atleast the kids giggle :)

Tape the whole leg. It will just be easier. Breaks can be obvious (think compound, legs bent like an L.) Or hidden, fractures. So tape the whole leg, and let her rest.

Feel the other leg then fell the broken one, or feel them at the same time and see if you feel an abnormality. Showbarnmom is right you need to splint it, and I would separate her From the others so they don't pick at the splint.

Thanks ya'll.. I felt up and down both and can't "feel" anything.. she isn't flinching or anything when I do it.
She is still limping a lil but just scratched under her wattle area (chin?) with it like 4 times so maybe she just sprained it? I put her in the pen next to me and she ran over to the watermelon and started chowing down then ran and jumped on the roost about 6" up so.. will just keep an eye on her for now. I started to tape her up and she freaked and started pecking at it before i even got it on her! Then tried to squirm out of my hands.. might need hubby to help me as I don't want to hurt her more!

ok.. hubby came home and she was walking fine on it! Then he felt for a break, gave her meal worms and she started limping again.. no break but def sore! NO idea what is wrong but am going to keep an eye on her and baby her some.. hopefully with rest she'll be ok
