That is crazy!!!!I think he’s in an area where raccoons are the most likely source of rabies too!

To each his own, but a bad example. I did a little wildlife rehab in Florida, and we wore thick leather gloves and used a rabies pole to handle them. Actually, they were mostly euthanized due to fear of personnel getting rabies. Raccoons can carry other diseases too, like Baylisascaris and leptospirosis. I wish I could say that I’m against feeding handouts to wild animals, but my husband is totally into it, so we feed all sorts of wild birds, deer, and no doubt, raccoons! It think he knows "his" racoons. He has named them. He knows which ones will be kicked out and have to find new territory next year. I think he would probably know when one was sick.
In any case, we all take our chances and make our choices in life. I breathe a lot of bird s*^& every day and hang out in tick country. Many Lymies would never do that, but I am a country gal. My grand-father always said: most people die in bed.
He looks like he is having a ton of fun!
I totally agree with you! Wild animals like racoons should not be fed or getting used to humans this close. Especially when they do so much damage as racoons do...To each his own, but a bad example.
