OMG SOO Mad At Myself

dieselgrl I am so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine your frustration. Hang in there, just remember sometimes life deals us a really hard blow, and we just have to learn from it. I truly am sorry..A couple of years ago when we had Hurricane Gaston, it flooded my hen house, 1st time and hopefully last time in 13 yrs. and when i came home there were 60 chickens drowned. No one can explain how it happened....however, had I of checked that morning, I might could have saved some of them..

Well we think now it is RATS Gaaaaaaaaaaa OMG.DH went with me last night.I Have 6 pen's in that coop I got my 4 Survivor's up I put them in one pen there is a small hole in a section of wire dividing 2 pen's where nest boxes have got shoved. So those birds were in safe area. But this a Closed building NO run's built on etc.I got the 4 in the 2 pens I put 2 columbian hen's and one VERY docile roo. Yep went open up this morn ALLLL 4 young were dead 2 dragged behing wire in pen's my last black silkie was chewed on some too.DH went Rambo this eve.He went below to cellar I had put out poision blocks yest and another 2 this morn and we had to leave a few hours and when got back another poision block was gone.He went so far as to try smoking the culprit out of a vent that goes from cellar to upper level of coop.I dunno if rats can climb straight up on a slick surface like that but DH said he was gonna get it!.He didn't get anything .
