We finally bought Omlet’s automatic sliding door. It fits to Omlet and other wooden hen houses as well as wire.

It took a few days to get the light mode sensor fully calibrated. It works really well so I no longer have to get up at first light to open up the roost. Approx 15 to 20 minutes after sunrise it opens up so the chickens go down into the enclosed run. I now only have to open these doors up for them to go into the big run with its electric fence.

In the evening I throw some seeds into the enclosed run which the chickens go back into, lock the doors and that’s it. No more having to guess when to go out and lock up. Again 15 to 20 minutes after sunset the door to the roost closes. For the first couple of nights we both sat outside to check it closed properly.

Now, all I’m waiting for is a good offer so I can buy another door to put on the enclosed run!

I just bought the door but I'm having a Dickens of a Time trying to get the light sensor mode to work properly. It closes the door alright in an appropriate time but it opens very late in the morning despite the numbers I program in for the open function.

the real head-scratcher I've had is that say I said it to open at a light intensity of 10. well I run it through the menu first of all see that it said a light intensity of 22 currently and then find myself wondering why the door is still closed and the open door function wasn't triggered at 10. I've even set the open setting for the light mode at 2 and it's still doesn't open till well past when the sun has been up.

I tried calling customer service for omelette and was told they were busy and they would call me back - did this twice in the same day with phone calls hours apart and I never did get a return call. Eventually I contacted what maybe was the receptionist and I told her how how I have been promised a call back twice and never received a call and she said I should look on their Facebook page to see if anyone had an answer - so far I rate their customer service a big zero.
contrast that with my pullet shut chicken door from chicken doors.com which light sensor worked right out of the box which is the way things should be.

Regardless though I'd like to make the light mode on this door work and I was wondering if u, or anyone else had any suggestions on what you had to go through for calibration etc. I'd also like to know what level you have your open setting on and your close setting on. Yesterday I ended up putting the door on timer mode since I couldn't get the light sensor function to behave accurately.
would highly welcome any advice you or anyone else can give me on making the light sensor open function work properly on this door. I even have the unit that has the sensor on it facing directly toward the direction that the sun rises from. Help!

UPDATE:

I just wanted to mention that it seems the best way to get squalidae customer service from omelet is to use their email option. I got some great ongoing customer service apparently the email customer service center is in the UK. in any case night and day difference in terms of the quality of service I received in support of the product versus the experience I mentioned in my previous post about being unable to reach anyone in customer service on the phone.

So after exchanging a number of emails trying different things the representative determined I had a faulty controller box and is sending a replacement to me. I'll update you all in how the replacement works. Again the email customer service support was easily five stars, the telephone support which sounded like it was a local US operation as opposed to the email center which appears to be in its headquarters in the UK was in the negative star range. But again the email customer service directly from the UK was spot-on excellent! :)

What values did you end up programming on the light mode function? For morning and night....

I’m wondering this as well... what number on the light sensor opens the door at sunrise?
I ended up using the chicken door from chicken doors.com which I've used on my other coops. I have used the omelet door as a secondary door that closes off and opens up the roosting area period what I had to do with that one is just program it by time since it's just too hard to fool with the guesswork on The omelette door when it comes to sunrise and sunset closings. the company that really has it down is the chicken doors on chicken doors.com because what I like about their door is I just set it up attach it plug it in and the light sensor automatically does the calculations for dusk and sunrise and I have one of them that I've had for over 10 years are just about 10 years and it's always run dependably. If I were to do it again I wouldn't get another omelet door but it works well as a secondary door using the schedule function by time
