Today is lockdown and I want to get everything right.... I have a hydrometer/thermometer and a bulb thermometer that cam with the incubator. I have a still air little giant. The thermometers are reading different temps. the bulb one says 101 and the other 98.4. and the humidity of 37%... could my cheap ther/hyd. from walmart be wrong? I want the humidity to be high enough for the hatch but I can't seem to get it up, I would feel better if it read at least 60%......I have both the water spaces full and put 2 in two wet sponges under the wire on the bottom. I have one air hole open with a tube running to remotely add water ANY IDEAS PLEASE!
thanks in advance!

add more wet sponges..wet paper towels..anything wet...

cheapo thermo is definitly wrong. sponges and both treys filled should be plenty. are the windows fogged up.

I think it may be reading wrong. Can you pick up one at walmart. I have the one that reads hygrometer readings too and it was right on

I think with all the wet things you got going on it should read higher. I wouldn't add anymore until you check it. You don't want them drowning. There is a thread here somewhere on how to calibrate it. Search for that in the search area. Good luck!

Roll up a paper towel, very small, wet it with warm water, and thread it down through one of the vent holes....but don't drop it into the 'bator. Leave some of it sticking out the top of the vent hole. This works for me...plus, you can re-wet it when it dries out. Good luck!

should the windows fog up? The humidity is rising now it's a little over 50% .... the right amount is between 70-80% correct?

No higher than 65 % max, 60 % works great. Any higher than 65 % and you stand a chance of drowning the chicks. 50% will work, but a little low.
