Temp has been constant at 99.5
Humidity 50-60%
When I placed the eggs in the turner, I let them rest for 9-10 hours rather than 24 hours at 60 F

All eggs came intact but did take them 4 days to ship it to my house. So its been 10 days since I placed them in the Incubator (Hovabator Genesis 1588 with Turner). I decided to candle them but to my dismay, all appears to be in bad shape. I definitely noticed red ring on couple, clear but porous look, no vein or Embryo like I suppose to. This is my first time, but looks like I will have 100% loss

I smelled all the eggs I canceled and no bad odors. I am not really sure they are bad, should I take them out and avoid eggplosion or leave them in the incubator?

the 10 from collecting + shipping + resting is about average. Sounds like you had some developement but quiters. Personally I only have my humidity at 45% the first 18 days, but I don't think that would be the cause of quiters that soon. Don't feel bad, my first time all of mine died too... but I fried mine

I promiss the more you hatch the better you'll get, just adjust where you thing things went wrong.

Thanks. I just thought I did all my homework prior to getting the incubator and the eggs. Kept it running for 24 hours to watch if there were any fluctuation or anything, but only thing I didn't do quite by the book was wait 24 hours prior to placing the eggs in the incubator (about 9-10 hours). But not sure if that played a role here. Since they don't smell bad, should I leave them for longer? These are orpington eggs and my flashlight probably missing the vein.

(I guess I am looking for excuse to just wait and see but then again, don't want the eggsplosion either ...

Aussieheeir, I plan to keep on trying .. thanks!

I prefer to keep my initial humidity at about 50%.

But from the sounds of it they weren't any of them really viable to begin with. Shipped eggs are a chancy business.

Don't give up though. You'll have success yet.

Try to find some eggs locally and avoid shipping until you get the hang of incubating. This will save you a lot of money and heartache. If you can find eggs locally of a breed of chicken you do not want you can always sell the chicks and buy shipped eggs at that point to get what you want. If you can find eggs locally of a breed that you do want...that's even better

Thanks. Not so long ago, I wouldn't even care the types of chicken I'm trying to hatch. A chick is a chick is a chick is a beautiful thing! But thanks to this discussion board, Google Image and Youtube video, I am spoiled! Well, I want specific varieties!

But I do hear you loud and clear and try to find some eggs locally and try .. and take a chance on shipped eggs in the future.
