For those who use it...

How far above the ground does this fencing sit?

Also, does it ground out on the grass like traditional electric fencing?

We really like the idea of using this product for our chicken pastures since we already run standard electric fencing for our other animals, but curious as to the mechanics of this type of electric fencing

They sell chicken netting in 42" and 48" high versions. I would go with the 48" version - not much more money, and the extra 6 inches may save the birds someday. If you get the 42" and something jumps over and kills some birds, you will always wonder if the extra 6" would have made a difference. :( The fencing is anywhere from 100-164' long with fiberglass posts built into the net. The bottom of the net is on the ground, but the very bottom rope of the net is not electrified. As grass grows up, it will weaken and eventually short out the net. I take my net down every month or so to mow where it was, and then I put it back up. Takes about 20 minutes. I have 200' of net. If you have more, you can spray grass killer along the fence line (unplug it first!) and that will do the trick too.
