Our neighbor came over the other day to simply let us know we have a flock of chickens on the roof.

Such a weird thing to have to come tell your neighbors about it was really so funny.
So now that my entire flock of birds can fly onto our roof how do I go about cutting wings so they can't? I saw one that was as simple as cutting the longer flight wings and having to do this every month or so. I would prefer to have something not painful to the girls but something that keeps them off the roof. They have ample yard space but it was non stop raining for 3 days so maybe they were afraid of drowning?
Anyway OMG ROFL how funny is that? Something I dont remember reading about before getting the girls!

This is from the Learning Center up on top of this page.

You don’t have to clip the wings weekly. Once you clip them, they won’t grow back until they molt. Young chicks go through two juvenile molts before they reach adulthood, but adult chickens should only molt once a year.

You won’t physically hurt them by trimming the wings unless the feathers are actively growing. If you see red in the shaft, that means there is blood in there and they are growing. Don’t trim them then. Otherwise, it does not hurt them any more than cutting your hair hurts you.

Thank you so so much!! very helpful!! Guess the girls are about to get their first haircut!
