"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort." ~ J. R. R. Tolkien

Naaaa they spend hours building and laying the eggs
That is a cute spot for them to lay. Have they ever tried to incubate the eggs?
Then arranging them n sitting on them n then they lose interest in em so I collect them up when they're done. It's almost ritualistic now with them, the boys will go in and build and bring in hay then sit with the girls while they lay, then help them organise the eggs and then sit guard while they sit for a while. It's pretty cute 😍

A few months ago My buttons were laying eggs in the corner and one of the females started sitting on the eggs. I got really exited but she abandon the eggs after 2 days and they died. That was when they were outside. Now they are back in their indoor cage and they have a little hay/straw basket that I gave them (It was sold as a wild bird house). None of them are laying eggs right now and have not been for a few months but one of my males keeps going in the basket while one of the females watches from the outside. Its kinda weird but maybe it means they will start laying eggs again?
