Back in June I got 6 BCM’s from Hoover’s. They accidentally sent French Cuckoo Marans so I just got 10 replacement BCM’s in. They all have a completely black head except one. I’ll attach a picture. Baby chick is near the water. Can BCM’s have yellow on their head.

Well it has feathered legs so that's at least promising. I have seen some with more white than others but not usually that much. I'll be curious to see what others think! Did the cuckoos look like that? Usually I think of freckled faces as being a barred or laced breed.

Ive had them with some white but not that much also.
Feathered legs are promising but that shank color surely isn't.
Those look bright yellow which isn't correct for marans.

Absolutely yes on the patchy faces for BCMs! Lots of BCMs have one or two white wing feathers in their first set. Some drop it after molting, some never do.

Looks like a healthy bunch!

Yes the legs are a little too yellow I think. They all have some yellowish colored legs I think and The other 9 have almost solid black heads. The cuckoo Marans had light yellow spots on their head and their legs are a more of a pinky flesh/gray tone but I don’t remember what color their legs were at day 2.
I’m not sure what this chicken is 🤦🏼‍♀️ The surprise is kinda fun though. I’ll update in a few weeks when feathers start coming in.
