Hello! Just looking for information really. A mama duck laid 12 eggs in a planter by our pool. She's been incubating them for a little over 28 days. On Thursday I saw one jump in the pool all fluffed up and swimming like a champ. I snuck a peek at the rest while mom was tending to the little one and they aren't showing any signs of hatching. I couldn't get close so I'm not positive about that. It's now Saturday, is there any chance of the others still hatching?

Is she still sitting on them or has she abandoned them?

She has had one hatch? was it able to get back in the planter with mama?
Yeah. We made a ramp out of an old window screen and showed baby how to use it. Now the duckling's made a game of jumping into the pool and climbing back out. Got another peek at the other eggs this afternoon and still no sign of any more hatches. I have a feeling it's just going to be the one.

Update: The baby duck disappeared last night without a trace. The yard is surrounded by a 6' wall so I'm guessing a hawk or owl got him. Mama duck is still hanging around. She seemed a little distressed today but she isn't sitting on the nest as much anymore. Should we take the eggs or let her move on when she's ready?
