Old flannel sheets, fresh washed. That’s good
What kind of bedding do you have them on ?
Poor little oneOld flannel sheets, fresh washed.
I gave her some garlic water and more nutridrench. She wouldn’t take the scrambled egg. Not looking good, she’s very lethargic. It will be a miracle if she makes it through the night. (Praying for one.)
Thank you. She didn’t make it.Poor little one
Sometimes it’s nothing we can do they just don’t make it
I will pray for a miracle
But don’t be hard on yourself if she passes
I know how you feelThank you. She didn’t make it.I had hopes, too, as she still had some spunk in her last night. Hard not to second guess my choices. Poor baby. Only had her four days, but she was the cutest, cuddliest, and most curious and adventurous!
Here’s hoping that whatever she had wasn’t contagious. Lost one in shipping, and so already down to four of original six.
Thank you. I knew it would be a journey with losses, but I didn’t expect to get attached to one girl so fast and then loose her so fast. I also feel bad because I realize now that, had I known more, I may yet have prevented her death. I expect it’s always the case. But from now on, I won’t put older sticks in for a roost (I suspect it was mold toxicity, under the bark on the ends), I will give my chicks charcoal right away if toxicity is suspect, and Nutri-drench in their water from Day 1, so I know they have enough vitamins and so won’t mind the charcoal (which can soak up nutrients). I will also boil any rocks for their waterer, so I can use them with confidence. Lots to learn in this realm!I know how you feel
I had one that needed help out as it had two air cells and got stuck between them
Poor thing bruised it’s whole egg trying to find a way out
We didn’t see the second air cell when starting that egg. I had given the Eggs and bator to the school for a hatch
I had poor baby torpedo for a few days shy of 4 weeks
He had a v in his neck bone and and was not able to walk , stand , swim , preen , eat or drink without my assistance
He spent most of his day on my lap and we got very attached to each other
It broke my heart to make that choice
I had vet bills of over 700 and had taken him to a guy to work on his neck
We did get his back to straighten to his neck and his crop to fall from the side to where it should be but that V in his neck bone was never going to straighten as he was developed that way in the egg.
He never would have had quality of life
We get attached quickly as they are amazing
Hopefully it was just him and the other 4 you have left grow stronger and healthy
