how long do I let it in there? There is one other chick that is running over the eggs. She is about 25 hours old now. There is 1 possibly 2 others that were pipped since yesterday afternoon. Will the dead one cause any problems to the others during the wait for the others to try to make it out. Oh, she died around 7:30 last night, just wondering about bacteria. Thank you for any help/suggestions

some people don't touch the bator when they are hatching, I myself will take a chick out and put in the brooder, if you are quick. usually if you set eggs all the same day they should all hatch within 2 days of each other, I try to refrain from adding eggs when the hatch has started, but my DH has been known to sneak a few in!
I would take the dead one out, but again you risk the humidity falling, you just have to be really quick and try not to open it very much. I also hatch in my master bathroom, and keep the door closed all the time, keeps down on the traffic and drafts.

i was thinking about going in the bathroom with plenty of steam after church and trying to remove them quickly. the one that has made it keeps sitting on the one that didn't make it out all the way...like its waiting for it to come out. all yesterday it kept going over to it and peeping and i even caught it pecking a bit at its shell. now when its not cruising the incubator it stays on top of that one
