Yesterday we got our first egg--YAY! But we also had to give away our rooster yesterday--Boo. This morning we had zero eggs--Sad.
Will the absence of our rooster affect egg laying? When do eggs start coming more regularly?

There is no need for a rooster unless you plan to raise chicks. When pullets begin laying they are like young teenage girls just hitting puberty. Everything is new and needs time to settle into a pattern. Eggs may even be small at first. It depends also on the breed as to how often they lay an egg. Chickens don’t lay every single day. Enjoy the excitement of first eggs. It never gets old!😁

No. If it did commercial egg laying operations would have roosters as well as hens. They don't.

Removing him may have upset the pecking order enough to throw her off laying for a few days. Change can sometimes affect egg laying but if that happened it shouldn't last long.

When do eggs start coming more regularly?
It just depends on the individual pullet. Some start off regular immediately, some take a while. Some hens never lay regularly.
