Eight days ago my girls started laying eggs. It was nice to finally see the hard work give us a reward. My four year old was so excited. The first thing he said was, "IM HUNGRY!" Haha! Anyway, theres been one egg a day for eight days. I figured only one of my girls (out of eight- 4 gold sex links and 4 BO) was laying, but eight days in a row has me scratching my head. Can one pullet lay that frequently? And if another girl was laying too, wouldn't I have more?

Sex links will often lay daily for several months. Have you compared the eggs? Most hens lay an egg that is fairly consistent in shape.

My red sex-link/ Golden Comet has laid one egg every day for 5 days straight. I know it's her because I see her in the nest box. The other two hens I have are a week or so younger and have not yet laid an egg. Interestingly, she has laid every day at 10:45-11:00 am; until today, she didn't lay until early afternoon. I'm sure the time of day will vary over time.

The eggs have looked the same and have been laid around the same time everyday. I had no idea sex links can lay everyday like that. Thats awesome. They've been a great breed so far. Makes me like them even more.

They tend to lay like crazy up front. Generally 1-3 seasons. They do tend to stop completely earlier in their lives and can be prone to reproductive cancers. Not all though. Some lay longer and live long lives. Sex links are the best for egg production.
