One hen always escapes!

I have a 24 week blue andalusian hen who is a roamer at heart. She is smaller and lighter than the rest of my flock, and so finds ways to jump to the highest point within our yard and then over the fence into our neighbor's yard. She must come back for food and water, but otherwise stays out of our run; even roosting in a tree at night. She's been doing this for a few weeks, and as often as I grab her (only at night because she's really fast during the day), she always ends up on the other side the next day.

I can't do much to fortify my chicken run, which has 8 foot fences that work just fine for the rest of my flock. I've already trimmed her flight feathers, but she's so light and strong that she can hop many vertical feet anyway.

I'm looking for suggestions for what I can do to keep her from being so mobile. She has gorgeous tall tail feathers -- do those give her more leverage? Could i put little weights on her legs (I know that sounds mean). What can I do, that won't cause her discomfort, that will keep her in the yard where she belongs? Or do I just need to find someone with an enclosed pen to take her?

Thank you for any and all wisdom!

Well, I'm fresh out of wisdom but did have two gorgeous BAs. They can fly at that age and remain very mobile as hens.

I think they are beautiful birds so trimming them to make them into something else isn't my way, but I suppose folks do it.

I'm unclear on whether she is escaping your yard or your run. If your 'run' is uncovered, is it possible to find a solution by covering it?

Good luck w/ her!
