HI I have one lone chicken, she is maybe Americana bantee chicken I do not know, she was given to me. She likes to be cuddled and yet runs when I come near sometimes a little skittish. She is small and dainty hardly eats anything, I do let her forage all day so I don't really know what she eats. She will dutifully eat from the feeder when I put it in front of her. Does she need other chickens, I don't think she knows she is a chicken she calls to birds in the yard.

It is great to have You here!

Approaching a chicken from the top will often scare them. Chickens to not normally like being patted on the top of the heat either. Try reaching under instead of over when you come up to her.

Chickens are social creature and do better with at least two in the flock. She would love having a flock mate or two!

Hi, thanks for joining us!

Maybe with a bit more information, we can give you more specific information. How old is your bantam? Is she laying eggs yet?

Chickens are flock animals and will do better with others of their own kind. But before you rush out to get additional birds, read up on isolation and integration.

What are you feeding her? You can leave her chicken feed out all day and she won't overeat. And be sure she has fresh, clean water at all times.

If you haven't already, check out the Learning Center. There are a lot of good articles there to help answer just about any question.

Best of luck to you!
